Van Gogh

Overdone? Maybe. But there's a reason why everyone adores him so much right? I seriously can't help this unrequited cush that I have on Van Gogh - He's just so damn interesting! Anyway, I just flipping through Marc Edo Tralbaut's Vincent Van Gogh (which my dad got my mom for Valentine's Day 20+ years ago) and just thought I'd post a little ditty on him. Any way, here's some Van Gogh pieces I really dig:

Love is Colder than Death

I don't understand why Teaneck is always the last town in Bergen County to have Spring Break. However, the 88 degree wether we're supposedly having tomorrow almost makes the wait worthwhile. Anyway, I finished the painting I had to do for my Design, Composition and Color Theory course (Will upload pic as soon as technologically saavy little bro shows me how to). Was somewhat satisifed with the end result but not as impressed with myself as I would have liked to be. I'm sure a lot of young artists who are still honing their skills can relate to this. Abvout 50% of the time I feel like destroying my work. I guess my neuroticism is somewhat good though - it pushes me to improve upon myself and experiment with new media and subject matter. Anyway, since I've been so caught up with take home tests, SAT prep and frolicking in the beautiful April air and didn't really devote that much time to my artistic endeavors, I'll leave you with this gorgeous new picture of Alexa Chung that I found on The Fashion Spot.

The picture is either from Bazaar or Jalouse, I think

Over the Hills and Far Away

I've spent the majority of the last two days sitting at my kitchen table feverishly doing pre-calc work and paraphrasing Dickinson poems. School is killing me. And I just found out today that the SAT classes I signed up for actually start tomorrow at 7:10. Gross. I wish I could have gone to the art show at school yesterday, but as I said before, I really had no time. But one of my classmates told me that she went and saw my stuff and liked it, which was good to hear. Hopefully Spring Break will provide me with the opportunity to get reaquainted with my easel and paintbrushes. I miss them a lot :-(.

Champagne and Boloney

So today was a productive day in terms of me doing artistic things. Went to my F.I.T. class (can't believe there are only 4 classes left - at least I'll be able to sleep in in a few weeks!), started a painting and did a little charcoal sketch of my hand (though it looks like a man's hand). Anywho, Professor Allen decided that we were due for a class trip and took us to a few galleries in Chelsea. Piece by Laura Sharp Wilson that I saw today:
